honors 1010 documentation
Honors 1010 was a gateway class that introduced myself and several other freshman to the Honors Program at the University of Cincinnati. I had the wonderful opportunity to learn from Neil Choudbury, and to learn alongside many outstanding students with a variety of interests, backgrounds, and talents. During Honors 1010, I learned about the requirements needed to remain in the Honor’s Program, which includes completing five honor’s experiences, earning a GPA of 3.5 by the end of my senior year, and writing year-in-reviews. I also learned how to be successful in the Honors Program through in-class discussions and homework assignments. For example, I learned about an effective way to reflect on my experiences. The reflections have to include a ‘what’, ‘so what’, and ‘now what’ section in order to best describe my experiences, what I learned from them, and how I’m going to apply them to my life going forward. I was also taught how to correctly document the experiences I will have in the Honors Program. As I continue through my college and Honors career, I will apply the knowledge I have gained from Honors 1010 so I can more fully appreciate, reflect upon, and apply my experiences to my life.
artifact
The artifact I chose for my Honors 1010 documentation was our very first assignment in the class. For this assignment, we had to create a timeline of six meaningful experiences that occurred during our life, and we had to type a reflection for each event. This assignment was very important to me and will be very important to my journey through the University of Cincinnati's Honors Program because I believe that people need to remember their past so they don't forget where they're coming from and will get a clearer picture of where they want to go. The Honors Program is a great way to do just that, as my Honors 1010 class has taught me, so I chose the assignment in which we had to remember our pasts to be the artifact for documenting Honors 1010.
